The V100 series is a fanless mini PC featuring modern Intel Celeron and Pentium processors from the Braswell generation, which provide good levels of performance with ultra-low power requirements.  Up to 8 GB RAM is supported, as well as up to two internal hard drives or SSDs, plus USB 3.0 ports and dual-output graphics (VGA & HDMI).  

The V100 series can be ordered with a range of input power options - from 12V-only up to a wide input voltage range with a dedicated trigger line controlling the PC's power status. Up to two Mini PCIe expansion slots can be specified, allowing features such as Wi-Fi, 4G and GPS to be built-in.  To facilitate easy SIM card installation an optional tool-less removal mechanism for the front panel (which covers the SIM slot) is available.  

A range of mounting options - covering wall/panel, VESA and DIN rail - ensures that the PC can be used in a wide range of environments.  Long-term availability allows the V100 series to meet your ongoing requirements, and each PC comes with a 2-year warranty as standard.

Front Panel Cover

Front panel cover containing power button*.  2 x USB 2.0 ports are located behind the front panel cover.  

Optional 2nd Mini PCI Express slot & associated SIM card slot are also located behind the front panel cover.  The 2nd Mini PCI Express slot blocks access to the 2 x USB 2.0 ports, which are therefore disabled.

The front panel cover can be removed in order to access the USB ports or SIM card.  As standard this involves a partial disassembly of the PC which requires both a Phillips and a flat-head screwdriver, and takes around 5-10 minutes for removal and reapplication.   

An optional tool-less front-panel cover removal mechanism is available, which secures the front panel cover using external thumb screws instead of internal clips.  With this option no tools are required to remove the front panel cover and the process takes less than 1 minute.  We strongly recommend the tool-less front panel cover removal option if the front panel cover may need to be removed by users with limited practical experience in working with small computers.

*Power button is non-functional if the trigger-line-equipped power supply is ordered.

SMA Connector Locations

GPS, 4G and Wi-Fi options each require one (for GPS) or two (for 4G & Wi-Fi) SMA antenna connectors.

Only one SMA antenna is located on the rear of the PC.

Any additional SMA antenna connectors are located along one side of the PC. An optional right-angled SMA adapter allows connected cables to exit towards the rear of the PC.

Power Supply

Internal power supply requiring 12V DC input:

  • 12V input voltage required (range: 11.6V to 12.6V)
  • Fanless & highly efficient
  • PC power status is controlled via a button on the front panel (i.e. traditional desktop PC behaviour)
  • Input power is supplied via a 2.5 x 5.5 x 10 mm DC jack socket (plug available separately). 
  • An AC power supply with the appropriate plug is available separately

Optional wide input power supply:

  • Specifications as above except that the input voltage range is 12-25V DC.  

Optional intelligent extra-wide input power supply, with trigger line controlling PC power status:

  • 6-24V DC input voltage range
  • Fanless & highly efficient
  • PC power status is controlled via an external trigger line.  When the trigger line is HIGH the PC turns on, and remains on until the trigger line goes LOW, at which point a controlled shutdown (or hibernate, depending on OS settings) is initiated.  The power button on the front panel of the PC is non-functional.  Note - if specified at order time, the external trigger line can be disabled so that the PC is switched on and off via the power button on the front panel in the normal way. 
  • Sleep operation is not supported by default
  • Idle power consumption: <0.6 mA
  • Protection against transients
  • Automatic shutdown at low input voltages (does not apply if external trigger line is disabled):
    • If PC is off, PC will not start if input voltage is below 11.2V
    • If PC is already on, PC will attempt a graceful shutdown if the input voltage drops below 7V for >10 seconds
  • Optional configurable shut-down delays: the time between the trigger line being turned off and the PC starting to shut down is approx. 1 minute by default, but this can be made user-changeable via software if specified at order time. 
  • Hard power off: in the event of a software crash preventing the operating system from shutting down the PC will carry out an abrupt power-down to prevent further consumption of input power.
  • Input power is supplied via a 4-pin Mini DIN female connector (plug available separately).
  • An AC power supply, with the appropriate plug and a 2-way toggle switch controlling the external trigger line, is available separately
  • Note - although this is an automotive-grade power supply, because V-family PCs are not E-mark certified we cannot recommend them for in-vehicle applications.  For vehicle-based applications requiring E-mark certification please choose from our C or CQ family PCs.

Optional VESA mounting screws to allow the PC to be "hung" horizontally or vertically to the back of a VESA 100 monitor.

In common with all passively cooled (fanless) computers, the PC should be installed in a location that allows cooling air to flow freely over (and through) the chassis.

Power Consumption

The following measurements were obtained using a base-spec V120 PC:

  • 5.53W average while idling at the Windows 10 desktop.
  • 7.88W average while loading the Windows 10 operating system.
  • 11.05W peak while loading the Windows 10 operating system.
  • 15.29W peak under stress-test conditions.

Optional Factory Recovery Solution for easy recovery to factory settings using F11 key at start-up:

Estimated End of Life (EoL) Date

Q1 2020

This is the earliest date at which we expect to stop producing new units of this PC model. However, the warranty for each PC will remain in place regardless of whether the EoL date has passed, and will continue for the duration of the original warranty period.
