2-Way and 3-Way Rocker Switches

Installing a 2-way or 3-way rocker switch gives more control over the power status of your in-vehicle PC or router.  Our in-vehicle PCs and routers include dedicated sensing lines that control whether or not the device is powered – when 12V is applied to this line the device powers on, and remains powered on until 12V is removed from the line, at which point it powers down (subject to no shut-down delays being set).

In a standard installation the sensing line is often connected to an ignition-switched source, so that the PC or router turns on and off automatically with the ignition.  However, if the sensing line is connected to a 2-way or 3-way switch this gives much more control over when the device powers up and shuts down. For example, it allows the device to be used even when the ignition is turned off, or it can be used to prevent the device from powering up at all (e.g. if maintenance work is being carried out on the vehicle).
