Overview

The C4 series vehicle PC is our highest performing PC to date, and is designed for in-vehicle applications requiring the absolute maximum level of processing performance. The C4 series utilises a 6th generation (Skylake) Intel Core i7-6820EQ processor, supports up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and is capable of driving 3 displays independently.

The C4 series is available in a range of chassis options to suit your requirements, from the compact ICPC-1 chassis up to the ICPC-4 chassis which allows the use of an industry-standard PCI Express card.

The C4 series will be available until Q1 2022, making it ideal for long-term embedded applications requiring a high-performance and reliable in-vehicle hardware platform.  

The PC is specifically designed for in-vehicle use, turns on and off automatically with the vehicle ignition, and does not reboot when the vehicle's engine is cranked during starting. The C4 series is "E-mark" certified, making it fully approved for in-vehicle use, and carries a 2-year warranty as standard.

  • PCs supplied with Euresys Picolo Alert PCI Express cards are equipped with a bracket that secures the otherwise unsupported far edge of the Picolo Alert card.  This is designed to prevent damage to the Picolo Alert card after long-term exposure to shock & vibration.  However, the bracket blocks access to the Picolo Alert's J10 (I/O) connector.

  • Configurable start-up and shut-down voltages to reflect the fact that battery levels and conditions vary between vehicles
  • Hard Power Off. In the event of a software crash during shut down the power will be cut to prevent draining of the vehicle battery
  • Post-boot lock-down. If the ignition is turned off having only just been turned on, a delay will be applied before issuing the shut down command, in order to allow the PC to fully boot before attempting to shut down
  • Ignition input behaviour is configurable. By default the PC will turn on when the ignition input is active, and remain on until the ignition input is no longer active, at which point the PC will shut down. Alternatively a push-button power switch can be installed on the chassis for non-ignition-switched behaviour
  • LED indicates PC status and assists with troubleshooting
  • Externally accessible jumper block for configuring power supply options.

Estimated End of Life (EoL) Date

Q1 2022

This is the earliest date at which we expect to stop producing new units of this PC model. However, the warranty for each PC will remain in place regardless of whether the EoL date has passed, and will continue for the duration of the original warranty period.

Chassis Options

All models are available in one of three chassis:

  • ICPC-1 chassis - This is our most compact chassis, capable of being installed in a variety of locations within almost any vehicle.  While not supporting any PCI Express cards, the ICPC-1 chassis does allow internal Mini PCI Express cards to be used.
  • ICPC-3 chassis - The ICPC-3 chassis is only slightly larger than the ICPC-1 chassis, and offers additional DB9 ports (e.g. for RS-232 or CAN-bus I/O) and SMA antenna ports, a low-profile PCI Express slot, and supports an externally accessible SIM card slot for the internal 3G / 4G module.
  • ICPC-4 chassis - Although the ICPC-4 chassis is our largest it is still very compact, and supports up to 2 full-size PCI Express slots*, plus an internal optical drive or removable hard drive module.

*The ICPC-4 chassis has two physical PCI sized expansion slots.  However, the second slot has no internal connection to the PCI Express bus, and can only be used for back plates or daughter boards that do not require a connection to the PCI Express bus.
