Examples of our Vehicle PC Installations

We understand that installation requirements vary greatly between different types of vehicle. In luxury executive cars, for example, appearance is of paramount importance, whereas in commercial vehicles, functionality and value for money take precedence.

Our in-house installation team is highly flexible, and has worked on a huge range of vehicles. Here  we feature vehicles from five different classes, to give you an idea of how a fully installed vehicle computer might look in your own vehicle(s).

Vehicle Type: Luxury Executive Car
Featured Vehicle: Audi A8

Twin rear screens installed into an Audi A8

Above: The system included twin 10.2" touch sensitive screens, which were painted to match the colour of the car's interior and then mounted to the rear of the front seats. The computer's picture is also visible, when required, on the factory fitted Audi MMI display in the front.

A replacement panel was made to hide the computer

Above: The computer was installed in the rear-left boot compartment, where the existing Audi multimedia equipment is located. The factory fitted panel that covered the multimedia equipment bay prior to installation contained a small storage pocket that protruded into the bay. The computer occupied this space, so a replacement panel was created to cover the multimedia bay, as shown above. Isolator switches were installed on the outside of this panel, allowing the customer to prevent the system from turning on automatically if necessary.

Featured Vehicle: Ford Transit

An 8.4-inch screen installed into a Ford Transit

Above: This system comprised a high resolution removable 8.4" display, which was mounted on the dashboard. A slot-loading DVD drive, USB2.0 port and power override switch were also included beside the screen, shown enlarged below:

The PC was installed behind this protective cover

Above: The PC was mounted at the front of the passenger footwell, and a custom cover was made to both protect and hide the PC. As the Transit is a large vehicle, the impact on passenger legroom was negligible.

Vehicle Type: Small Car
Featured Vehicle: Volkswagen Polo

A 6.5-inch in-dash display was installed

Above: This car includes an in-dash display with a built-in DVD drive behind the screen, which automatically flips down to provide access to the DVD drive. The system also includes twin dash-mounted USB2.0 ports, a fingerprint scanner and a 52-in-1 card reader, all visible at the bottom of the above picture.

Touch sensitive displays were installed into both rear headrests

Above: 7" touch sensitive displays were trimmed into each of the existing headrests, which are able to show independent content from the front display.

The PC was installed underneath a protective cover

Above: The computer was installed in the boot, and a custom cover was constructed to provide protection. The cover included a built-in fan to provide plenty of airflow to the PC. Access to the spare wheel, located underneath the boot floor, is still available by simply removing the cover and tilting the boot floor.

Above: As is probably obvious from the bull bar, snorkel and winch, this vehicle is regularly used in extreme off-road conditions, which often results in water entering the cabin. In order to keep the PC dry we mounted it to the vehicle's ceiling, as shown below.
